Problems installing Datalink for FRS in Windows 7 or Vista
6 Feb 2013
A few Datalink for FRS users running Windows 7 or Vista have reported problems getting Datalink for FRS to install properly. If you are experiencing this, the steps below should resolve your problem:
- The person installing Datalink for FRS must have full administrator rights on the PC. We recommend that the program be installed for “Everyone”.It is also recommended that users be given full admin rights to the PC.
- If the user does not have full admin rights, the administrator must give the user full admin rights to theC:\Program Files\Datalink for FRS folder and to the C:\HarvestMaster folder and all their contents.
Datalink for FRS requires the following Microsoft update to be installed in 64-bit Windows 7:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or higher
Datalink for FRS will install the program if it is not already on the user’s PC.
NOTE: Some users running Windows 7 or Windows Vista experience Datalink for FRS crashes when importing maps (an error is reported and Datalink shuts down). The Datalink for FRS program may work on one person’s PC, but will crash on an identical PC in the same office.
To correct this problem, download the “Datalink-for-FRSHotfix” patch. Follow the “DL-FRS Patch Install Instructions” to install the patch. Both are available on the Downloads page.
